Initiative for the Palestinian Economy Conference

When: Mar 08th, 2014 - Mar 09th, 2014
Where: Prague, Czech Republic

Event overview

The Initiative for the Palestinian Economy (IPE) is designed to effect transformative change and substantial growth in the Palestinian economy and create new jobs. It is a complementary process to the political negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority (PA), led by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, and is not substitute for it. The plan was drafted under the leadership of Quartet Representative Tony Blair. The initiative focuses on catalysing private sector-led growth in the West Bank, the Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem.

The Prague conference, a first in a series of high-level conferences and meetings, was opened by remarks of the Quartet Representative Tony Blair, fomer U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine K. Albright, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Anne W. Patterson, President and CEO of the Aspen Institute Walter Isaacson, and U.S. Ambassador to the Czech Republic Norman Eisen. The meeting was organized by the Aspen Institute, Office of the Quartet Representative, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and KEYNOTE.
