The Economic Perspectives of Central Europe

When: Mar 16th, 2012
Where: Prague

Event overview

The Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business is pleased to invite its partners and community members to an exclusive discussion between two exceptional economists: Marek Belka, President, National Bank of Poland and Miroslav Singer, Governor, Czech National Bank. The discussion will be facilitated by Luděk Niedermayer, Director of Consulting, Deloitte Czech Republic.

Poland and the Czech Republic are two key economies of the post-communist Central Europe. Both have, so far, shown relative resilience vis-à-vis the ongoing world economic slowdown and the European debt crisis. However, as with other EU economies, their future seems uncertain. Thus, what is the economic outlook of Central Europe? Are there any specificities in comparison with the wider EU economic future? What are the main mid- and long-term challenges for the Czech Republic and Poland? What are the main opportunities? Is there any long term vision of where the Polish economy should be in 20 or even 50 years? Is there any such vision in the Czech Republic? What economic strategies should the two countries be implementing in the long term? These questions and many more issues should be discussed.

This unique event will be held in the Hotel BOSCOLO Prague, on Friday, March 16, 2012.

Delivered on 3 continents, the Katz School‘s EMBA Worldwide program provides students with the opportunity to study global business issues and network with colleagues from across the world, preparing business professionals for leadership roles on a global scale. Both of the discussion’s special speakers are members of the school's Board of Advisors for Europe. Their academic backgrounds, combined with their forefront roles in past transitional processes, give them a truly complex and in-depth understanding of the region. You will have the opportunity to take part in the open discussion, address questions to Belka and Singer, and network with Katz's students, alumni, members of the Board of Advisors-Europe, business partners, and leading members of the business community.
